SPURS CHASE ADEBAYOR

TOTTENHAM are closing in on a season-long loan deal for Emmanuel Adebayor.
And they hope to have him on board in time to play at Manchester United next Monday.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is desperate to bring in some fresh firepower.
And he is on the verge of a breakthrough in his search for a striker with Spurs and Manchester City close to finalising a
deal for Adebayor.
City are keen to offload Adebayor, who is out of favour at the Etihad Stadium and spent the end of last season at Real Madrid.
But they were struggling to find a taker for the 27 year old – until now.
Madrid have shown little desire to land Adebayor on a permanent basis, and wages have proved to be a stumbling block for Spurs.
City originally wanted Spurs to pay the majority of his £170,000-a-week wages to land him on loan.
But the two clubs have reached a compromise deal and agreed to pay 50 per cent, £85,000, each.
Adebayor’s move will be a controversial one.
He spent two-and-a-half years at Arsenal and was subjected to sick taunts from Spurs fans whenever the London rivals clashed.
But the striker has already insisted he is willing to join Spurs and forget the abuse despite his Gunners links.
